Pastor’s Weeknight Bible Study. Thursdays, January 14-March 17. 7:00-8:15 p.m. The portrait of Jesus we find in Mark is one of a powerful man, confident of his choices, but thoroughly trusting in God even as he faces persecution and ultimately death. Those who struggle in their discipleship are comforted to read in Mark's gospel how even Jesus' followers so often fail to understand the depth and breadth of Jesus' power and authority. Mark's words are an encouragement to uncertain disciples of all the ages to see clearly the path Jesus invites us to follow. Study Themes: • The Foundation of the Gospels • The Galilean Ministry Begins • Teaching and Preaching • A Man Who Does Everything Well • Visions of the Kingdom • What is Power? • Signs of the End • Death into Life (Resource Book: $20)

This study focuses on Jesus’ parables that are unique to the Gospel of Luke. These parables are stories that, according to Luke, Jesus shared with his disciples as they accompanied him on the most crucial journey they ever took together—the journey to Jerusalem. There Jesus would die, and there the disciples would learn of the true nature and cost of following him. These stories in Luke’s Gospel are pilgrimage parables. They are parables for those on the way to being the people of God.
Second Tuesday of each month at 11:45 a.m., August - May.
